Want to learn more about the underwater environment in which you dive? Our Underwater Environment course will teach you about the physical and biological aspects of the diving environment with emphasis on your local area. You'll study related sciences, such as oceanography, limnology, geology, biology, and ecology, and learn about various types of plant and animal life, conservation and pollution issues, the characteristics of water movement, shore, bottom and surface conditions, and how to plan dives in diverse diving locations. Prerequisites: Open water certification Minimum Age, 12 years. Dives you will make: You will complete two open water dives. What you will learn: • The major aquatic life groupings, interactions and factual information that dispels negative myths • The role of aquatic plants, food chains and predator prey relationships • Responsible interactions with aquatic life • The underwater naturalist’s view of organisms and their roles in the environment Equipment Required You use all the basic scuba gear including your underwater compass. The night dive will require a primary, backup and market light. Learning Materials The course fee does not includes the textbook.
