Open Water Diver Course

Your new adventure as a certified scuba diver begins with this course. Earning this certification enables you to dive and receive diving services all over the world. The Open Water Diver course is truly your ticket to a new and thrilling adventure.

Prerequisites:
Minimum of 10 years of age and in general good health.

Phase I, In The Classroom:
As the first phase of your training, your classroom session is designed to provide you with the basic tenents and information about diving. Covering every facet from equipment to the effects of depth and pressure to the principles of gliding effortlessly through the water, the classroom is where ou learn the “whys” of diving.

Study prior to class is critical to this phase of training. Be sure to study your text book thorouglly before coming to class.

Phase II, Confined Water (Pool) Training:
After leaving the “why’s” we move on the the “how-to’s.”

The way you learn to dive is to dive, so while we apply the principals of diving you learned in the classroom, we move into the controlled environment of a swimming pool to practice hands -on use of equipment while we learn the basic and advanced skills.

Here you’ll be tought the physical skills essential to diving and master these prior to leaving this controlled environment.

Phase III: Open Water Certification Dives (Total Time: about XXX minutes)
Now the best fun begins as we move to the open water. At least four scuba dives are required to for certification. These are done in a safe, controlled manner in the the open-water environment of either a rock quarry or the ocean.


You’ll perform many of the same skills you learned in the swimming pool, always under the direct supervision of your instructor. Normally these dives are completed in two consecutive days.

Equipment Required
Scuba diving is an equipment intensive sport. Your personal equipment of mask, snorkel, fins, boots and weight belt are exactly that... personal to you. As it’s essential that this equipment fit you precisely, each student must purchase these items prior to your first pool session. Your life support equipment consists of a bouyancy control device, regulator with guages/computer, wetsuit, weights and any specialty equipment required. These items are furnished at no additional cost.

The Next Level
Advanced Open Water

We offer PADI, NAUI, SDI and TDI certifications and our instructors are certified to teach CPR, AED useage, First Aid, 02 Administration and are accredited Rescue Divers.
