We Bring Diving To You!

Advanced Open Water Diver Course

Upon completion of the Open Water Diver certification course you are ready to move on to Advanced Open Water. The Advanced Open Water Diver course helps you increase your confidence and build your scuba skills so you can become more comfortable in the water.  This is a great way to get more dives under your belt while continuing to learn under the supervision of our instructors.

Prerequisites:
Open water certification
Minimum Age, 12 years.

Dives you will make:
You will complete six dives which give you a introduction to seven different specialties of diving:

PEAK PERFORMANCE BUOYANCY/DIVER PROPULSION VEHICLE:
Buoyancy is something each new diver struggles with to varying degrees. This dive will introduce you to the intricacies of proper weighting and weight placement, breathing techniques and their effects on buoyancy as well as furthering your diving skills in hovering, position in the water column and buoyancy control.  In addition, we've included a segment in the safe operation and use of diver propulsion vehicles, commonly known as "scooters" which provides education in the safe use of these vehicles underwater.

SEARCH AND RECOVERY:
No one becomes more popular than a diver with a friend who has lost something underwater and needs that item retrieved.  The search and recovery dive teaches you about different search techniques and methods of recovery of items from small to large.  Incorporating your refined skills in buoyancy, you'll use these different search techniques to locate various objects, secure the lifting devices to them and bring them back to the surface.

NIGHT DIVING:
Another world of diving awaits you at night, but you must be properly prepared to safely explore this world.  The night dive will teach you about safety in the dark underwater and show you this world in a completely new environment than you may have experienced before.  The course covers surface entry and exit point marking, use of primary, backup and tank lights underwater and safe night diving techniques.

DEEP DIVING:
While your Open Water Course probably introduced you to deeper diving, this dive will take the principals and safety skills of deeper to another level as we explore the effects of pressure at deeper depths on your body and air consumption, learn how to calculate air consumption rates and experience the differences of diving to greater depths.

WRECK DIVING
If you're diving in this area or down through the Outer Banks of North Carolina, wreck diving is definently in your future.  It's critical then that you know how to safely locate, navigate and explore these wrecks.  Combining principals learned on the Deep Dive, your wreck dive will introduce you to methods which will allow you to safely dive these wrecks.  Use of underwater navigation, locating and examining the wreck for safety hazards, use of lines and wreck reels and safe descent and ascent techniques are taught and reviewed.

ADVANCED UNDERWATER NAVIGATION:
Underwater navigation is an essential skill for every diver but our ability to perform this skill can diminish with lack of use.  This dive will refresh your skills learned in the open water course and take them to higher levels as you practice locating and swimming compass headings as you measure distances underwater.  The skills learned on this dive can be applied to almost every type of diving you might ever do!

While we introduce these six different specialties in diving, we're also refining our skills simply by being in the water, applying and developing our present skills and safety procedures.  The Advanced Open Water Course is about diving and becoming better divers.  There's only one way to do it:  let's get in the water and GO DIVIN!

Equipment Required
You use all the basic scuba gear including your underwater compass.
The night dive will require a primary, backup and market light.
